Wayne E. Baker is an American author and sociologist on the senior faculty of the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, whose research focuses on values, American society, social capital, social networks, and economic sociology. He is best known for demonstrating that financial markets operate as social networks and for survey research documenting Americans' core values, including patriotism, belief in God, individualism, success, equal opportunities, freedom and liberty, respect, and the free market.

Baker writes in both academic and popular media on these themes and is frequently invited to present his findings across the United States.
