Francis Fukuyama

Francis Fukuyama, born in 1952 in Hyde Park, is an American political scientist, political economist, and international relations scholar whose 1992 book The End of History and the Last Man made him one of the most debated thinkers of the post–Cold War era. Its provocative thesis — that liberal democracy and Western free-market capitalism represent humanity's final form of government — sparked global controversy. A senior fellow at Stanford's Freeman Spogli Institute, he also directs the Ford Dorsey Master's in International Policy there.

He previously taught at Johns Hopkins and George Mason universities.
