The Dalai Lama is the title of the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism. The current holder, Tenzin Gyatso (born 1935), is the 14th Dalai Lama and a global advocate for compassion, non-violence, and interfaith dialogue. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989, he has written numerous books on happiness, ethics, and Buddhist philosophy for a worldwide readership.
